BEACON

Voted best navigational app of 2008 by my mom!

Beacon will point you back to wherever you drop a beacon. Made after losing my car in a parking lot for the 800th time.

When you park, load up Beacon and hit the giant "DROP BEACON" button. Then, when you want to find your car again, just load Beacon again and follow the arrow straight to your car. Couldnt be any easier!

Beacon will automatically adjust to your direction of travel, so the arrow will always point exactly where you need to go. BUT---it will only do so once the GPS accuracy is good. This may take a few minutes! Wait until the accuracy is less than 50 metres.

Please note that I have absolutely no control over the accuracy of the GPS receiver. That is handled 100% by the phone itself. If you find the accuracy is poor, leave it be for a minute and itll get better and better. If you find its too inaccurate, get a bigger car. Its a cell phone, with like eight antennas!

Soon youll be able to switch between metric and American units. For now, just use the fact that 1 metre = 1 yard (3 feet).

What makes Beacon different from other find-my-car apps:
• Beacon is free
• No need to wait for Google Maps to load, or an animated boot sequence. Designed to be useful when its -50 out (youre adorable, Canada)
• Flashy graphics make you look cool
• Valid medical cure for acne(*)

(*) Not a valid medical cure for acne

Pros and cons of Beacon app for iPhone and iPad

Beacon app good for

The Beacon works fine! Its just the dummies that cant read or write also dont know that the Beacon is actually invisible! Thanks for the fun app.
Yea, i got it... But then it dosent work! I had do load it like 6 times for it wo work... But it was still cool 4 1/2 stars
I like the idea of this app. It works as advertised. The only problem, and this is a problem with iPhone GPS in general, is it does not know which way youre facing, so the arrow points in the right direction only when you are facing north.
I deleted this app awhile back and I justtried reinstalling it. I got a error messege that said "this application is no longer availible." It might be because I have version 3.0. I dont know. It worked fine while I had it though.  Warning!- GPS is needed so WiFi on iPod Touch wont work!
Works great on Jailbroken FW 4.2.1. The only issue I have is, its in Metric. Would also be nice to be-able bookmark a Beacon. Other than that, Its a great app to find my car in a huge parking lot, like a mall.
Im leaving this stellar 5-star review only to cancel out one of the 1-star reviews left by people who 1) clearly dont know how to follow simple directions, or 2) dont have a clue how GPS actually works.

Some bad moments

Helen Keller could find her car faster than this crap. Accuracy is always poor. Doesnt even work not once!!!
What is there to read every time i open it it wont load its crap dont waste your time
This app is junk. Great concept if they can ever get it to work in a timely manner.
No matter what this thing always pointed in one direction. Good thing it was free. Good idea if it worked.
I thought i would try this app out despite poor reviews. Turns out i should of listened to those reviews and saved myself some time!
Soo stupid!!!! Wont load for my life! Not on iPod touch either.
